We're into MAY and this weekend was the perfect weekend to think about starting our family veggie garden.
After watching some movies on food lately, my husband and I have really wanted to start and grow some of our own veggie's. It may not be able to feed us all the time but I think there's something so rewarding in starting from seed and growing fresh food. REAL food!
I am really new at this so I'm hoping this will work out. Crossed Fingers!
So my oldest and I just went to Walmart on Saturday and picked up a bag of dirt and a few trays to starting the seeds. Then if this works (crossed fingers) we will transplant them into a spot in our backyard.
Our oldest thought it was fun to pick the different veggie seeds that he wanted to grow. He's really into fresh foods so he thought this was really cool he could grow his own food.
He chose:
- Carrots
- Cucumbers
- Cantaloupe
- Tomatoes
- Green Beans
- Yellow Beans
- Broccoli
- Romaine Lettuce
- Mixed baby greens
- Iceberg lettuce
Oh and there was even a kit for a mini herb garden. So we grabbed one of those too.
So we filled the trays up with the soil and sprinkled our seeds in. They thought it was neat how each seed was a different shape, size or colour. Then they covered the seeds with more soil.
Now we wait. See if we get anything sprouting. Cross your fingers for us!
If you have some experience with gardening and you've grown your own veggies before I'd love to hear from you !
To be Continued.....
